Office Refurbishment, Sydney
Case study
In the heart of Sydney’s CBD this government agency sought to refine their office layout in response to an updated internal workplace strategy.
Having established a long-standing relationship with the client after delivering the initial fit-out, Codesign + Sheldon were engaged to develop the early-stage plans before securing the tender to complete the project. The design aimed to enhance employee functionality while maintaining cohesion with the existing space, ensuring that modifications felt like a natural extension rather than an isolated addition.
Codesign + Sheldon’s commitment to creating inclusive, adaptable, and culturally enriched workplaces is reflected throughout this project. The walls surrounding the main entrance walkway and various meeting and breakout rooms display the work of various Indigenous artists such as Amanda Hinkelmann, Juliette Nakamarra Morris, and Shanna Napanangka Williams.
Their art not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the office but also brings cultural depth and storytelling into the workplace. Each piece tells a story, Hinkelmann’s work embodies a profound connection to Country and the knowledge passed down through generations, while Morris’s Dreaming-inspired pieces capture the natural rhythms and traditions of the land.
More than simply design additions, these artworks foster connection, respect, and understanding, and their inclusion supports our mission to promote a deeper appreciation for the histories and communities that shape the spaces where we both live and work.
Integrating new spaces without compromising security or cohesion.
High-level zoned security and acoustic requirements.
Security remained a key consideration, with the reuse of the existing Zone 3 security door, while budget constraints initially limited the inclusion of acoustic solutions.
Following project completion, additional echo panels were also introduced to improve sound absorption, reinforcing the commitment to a productive and comfortable work environment. The inclusion of additional quiet rooms further supports employee focus, demonstrating the Codesign + Sheldon’s teams ability to deliver tailored workplace solutions that evolve alongside organisational needs.
